Olympia lowlifes is what I call my group of friends and yeah, we’re all from Olympia, WA. But we went camping in La Push.

What did Hope Solo do? WHAT DID HOPE SOLO DO?! Well she’s the goalie for the US Women’s soccer team who just won the Gold medal against Japan, a team that beat them in the 2011 World Cup on penalty kicks. She had some amazing saves in this game to help the team to their victory of 2-1 (see gif on my blog). She’s played great the entire Olympics, her tenacity, skill, athleticism and leadership have definitely been a big factor in the team’s road to the podium. She and all the other phenomenal ladies of the team have been fun and inspiring to watch. GREATNESS HAS BEEN FOUND.

You’re welcome and thank you. Keep your head up anon, things are tough now, I’m sure, but just take it one day at a time and things will get better. I know it’s a cliche but I can tell you that from experience.

It’s often said that falling feels a lot like flying at first, but if that’s true then what does flying feel like? In the first instant, if you’re not as ready as you thought you were it’s terrifying. The ground is growing closer at a speed your brain can’t even think to comprehend and your wings won’t open because your hands are stuck in your pockets. But if you just stop to take a moment and breathe you’ll feel the wind gently tugging beneath your arms beckoning you to spread them wide. Even if you were kicked from the nest before you were ready, pushed from the cliff without any warning or you simply tripped and found yourself tumbling over the edge into a world unknown you can still fly. Flying feels a lot like falling at first but only until you let go of your fear, let go of your past, let go of your pain and spread your wings.

Uhhh. Depends on the definition of religious. I was raised Christian, went to church every Sunday until I was 18. I don’t go to church as often as I used to but I do go occasionally. I still believe in God. Why do you ask?

It’s rough around the edges really. Neither of you can or want to define what this is. You just want to feel it and experience it and let it be. For once in your life, just let it fucking be. One night you slip up and kiss goodnight in front of your friends and as soon as they get you alone the questions start firing like a gun and you’re not sure if what you’ve been trying to hide? savor? protect? enjoy will be left standing at the end. “Do you guys like each other?” “Yes.” “So are you guys together?” “Sort of.” “Are you guys dating?” “We’ve been on dates.” “Is she your girlfriend?” “No.” “So then what is she?” “I don’t know.” “You don’t know?” They’re getting upset now. “If I had to put a label on it, I’d say she’s my lover.” “Your lover?!” The question is condescending and if it didn’t piss you off it might’ve stung a bit. “Yes. I love her. And she loves me. And when we get together we love each other. She is my lover more than any boyfriend or girlfriend has ever been. And we’re happy. So if it’s okay with you, and fuck even if it’s not, we’re going to keep doing it.” You try not to slam the door when you go inside but doors are heavy and you have a bit of adrenaline coursing through your system and the laws of physics can’t be denied. More than anything you hope she doesn’t laugh at you when she finds out you called her your lover.
